@RalphHightower: Let me get this out of the way first. Okay, two things. First, I am not questioning the Pope. His guidance cannot be reproached. The second item addresses one of the founding principles of the United States of America, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom to peacefully assemble and express grievances.

First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Open Letter to America’s Faith Leaders

To the pastors, televangelists, bishops, and self‑appointed shepherds of the American flock:

You have watched Donald Trump cross line after line of sacred imagery. You have watched him step deeper into messianic symbolism — not metaphor, not hyperbole, but literal Christ‑coded iconography. And now, with the release of the “So God Made Trump” video and the AI‑generated “Donnie H Christ” image, the boundary has been obliterated entirely.

The Pope saw it clearly. He named it for what it was. He refused to be swayed, refused to sanitize it, refused to pretend it was harmless. He understood that when a political figure begins adopting the visual grammar of divinity, the danger is not political — it is theological.But you, America’s faith leaders, have not spoken with that clarity.

Some of you have blessed it.

Some of you have excused it.

Some of you have shrugged it off as “nothing.”

Some of you have remained silent, hoping the moment will pass without requiring courage.

This letter is not about Trump. It is about you.

It is about the responsibility you claim to carry — the moral authority you say you wield — and the silence you offer when the most basic guardrails of Christian theology are violated in broad daylight.

You know the difference between reverence and idolatry.

You know the difference between leadership and deification.

You know the difference between political loyalty and spiritual integrity.

And yet, when confronted with imagery that places a political figure in the posture, attire, and radiance of Jesus Christ, you have chosen loyalty over truth.

The Pope did not.

He saw the danger.

He named it.

He refused to bend.

This letter asks you to do the same.

Not for politics.

Not for parties.

Not for candidates.

But for the faith you claim to defend.If you cannot speak now — when the imagery has reached literal resurrection‑style iconography — then when will you speak?

If you cannot draw a line here — at the threshold of blasphemy — then what line remains?

Your congregations are watching.

Your silence is speaking.

And history will record which leaders stood firm, and which leaders bowed.
